Over a week ago, my old knee injury began to ache. I ignored it and went about my usual business, until the weather got colder a few days later. I had not been getting regular exercise as often as I should and the knee pain persuaded me to go back to the gym.
I went back to the exercise place and saw a new addition on my way in. The Flavia coffee machine.
This was the larger office version of the machine sitting on the countertop. After playing with it for a few minutes, I found the machine easy to use and decided to taste (for the second time) one of the coffees.
I easily made a hazelnut coffee using the machine. I liked it. Admittedly, it wasn’t as good as the fresh brewed coffee at the Four Bucks place down the street, but it was pretty good. I took my coffee and I went to go exercise.
The next time I went to the exercise place I decided to try one of the milky way coffees. I put the packet in the machine, placed the cup underneath and waited for my coffee. The machine unexpectedly asked me for another packet to make the coffee. I asked for another packet and was given a breakfast coffee blend.
This combination did not work out well. It tasted vaguely like chocolate (not a milky way chocolate) and faintly like coffee. After drinking some of this brew I threw it away.
After I went home after exercising, I looked up the suggested combinations for the milky way swirl packet. They were: chocolate, hazelnut coffee or French vanilla coffee.
Armed with this information, I went back to the exercise place. Only to discover they were out of Milky Way swirl packets. :O
So I took a choco packet and a French vanilla packet and tried to make a chococcino. It tasted like French Vanilla coffee (good) and vaguely like chocolate. This cup of coffee I finished.
It really isn’t fair to the Flavia machine and packets if I make my own random combinations and I say I don’t like it. Especially since the machine is programmed to make cups of coffee from certain packets in the correct order. It was time to get organized.
So I went to the Flavia website (MyFlavia.com) and looked through their recipes. Turns out the indulgence drinks are the ones that usually require more than one packet. The teas, the regular coffees and the wellness drinks are generally made with only one packet.
They also had a section of user submitted recipes and recommendations on how to make them on the different types of machines.
I took notes on the recipes with instructions and needed packets. When next I go to the exercise place I will be ready for more than just exercise.
